Collection: WINTER MCQUINN
The first single “Walkin Through That Door” is an upbeat 70’s inspired soft rock and pop track that features blistering lead vocals by talented Naarm based singer Feign Jima. Tinged with a beautiful melancholy, the song is about love, longing and changing relationships. The song was a co-write between McQuinn and Feign Jima and features Dylan Young (Way Dynamic) on lead guitar, piano and backing vocals.
Beginning with lush piano, the smooth vocals of Feign Jima arrive before the song kicks into gear with the drums, bass and rhythm guitar creating an infectious groove. The chorus is beautifully uplifting but as Feign Jima sings “I don’t know what to say, ‘cause I’m in love but I’m distracted”, we hear the song’s melancholy. Both the lyrics and sonics of the song perfectly capture that feeling of bitter sweet pain, when you’re in and out of love. The lead guitar break is as equally infectious as the vocal melody and echoes the LA soft rock swagger of Drugdealer.

“Feel like you were born in the wrong decade? Winter McQuinn might have the album for you. Just as he does while leading Melbourne’s throwback band Sunfruits, McQuinn’s solo project beautifully harks back to ’70s folk and rock. Move to the Trees is the furthest thing from pastiche, however, and these songs could well have belonged in the era of Drake and Barrett.” — Rolling Stone
