Collection: WAX JAW
a punchy amalgam of classic punk and new wave with an undercurrent of surf / skate energy - WXPN
a steadfast indie pop ensemble that demands your undivided attention - POST-PUNK.COM
Wax Jaw was born out of the summer-time daydreams and blossoming friendship of Greg Blanc (bass) and Sean Vannata (guitar). The pair immediately shared a vision of writing lively, upbeat songs that would energize listeners and leave fans buzzing after their live shows. They could not have predicted how fast Wax Jaw would climb the rungs of an expansive Philly music scene following the release of their debut EP Between the Teeth in October 2023.
A formidable opening statement from the band, Between the Teeth is a collection of catchy punk tunes – most of which have been sun-kissed with surfy guitar tones and permeated with new wave danceability. The release was followed up with multiple sold out shows at home and on the road while touring in the U.S. and Canada.
Buzz surrounding the band is primarily fueled by their high-octane live shows, where it’s not unusual for members to dive into the crowd after taking command of the stage with a fierce and unbridled enthusiasm. Whether fans want to dance or thrash, Wax Jaw brings enough raw energy and BPM to get the blood pumping. Led by charismatic frontman Shane Morgan, the band has already cut their teeth alongside psych-rock titans Wine Lips, brit-punk royalty Bad Nerves, and indie angels Shannon and the Clams.
Wax Jaw is excited to announce the release of their new single “Boy’s Life” via Born Losers Records on October 18th, 2024. A song about trans visibility, “Boy’s Life” captures Shane’s lived experience as a queer trans masculine person struggling to embrace his truth in a world that often uses the queer community as a political chess piece. The track overflows with gay rage as Shane refuses to be a pawn in the hypocritical games of those who seek to serve only themselves.
