Nashville’s The Sewing Club fall directly in line with bands like Momma and Rocket before them, specializing as they do in fuzzed-out indie-pop that’s a bit too grungy to warrant a “bedroom-pop” designation. - FLOOD MAGAZINE
On Sew, the band is chasing the feeling of being twenty-something and watching our lives quietly rearrange themselves. Friendships drift. Relationships end. The people you thought you'd know forever slowly become strangers, while everything else moves faster than you can keep up with.
Written between home and the road and recorded with our longtime friend Calvin Lauber, we tried our best to never really smooth jagged edges over on the record. The songs lean into blown-out guitars, hooks that stick around (hopefully), and enough fuzz to blur the line between nostalgia and something entirely new. Inspired by bands like Veruca Salt, The Breeders, Wishy, Punchlove, and Slow Pulp, etc. the record has a feeling of being equally at home in a basement show or blasting through blown speakers on a summer drive.
Rather than chasing a perfect debut, we made the record we wanted to hear. Sew is less a statement than a snapshot, it’s a band catching itself in the middle of becoming.
