Collection: EUPHORIA AGAIN

an essential listen, particularly the scuzzy and familiar-feeling twinge of Smashing Pumpkins - The Fader

dreamy, rootsy indie rock - Stereogum

warm, earthy indie folk and alt-country vibes that would sit very nicely next to stuff like MJ Lenderman and The War On Drugs - Brooklyn Vegan

a much more mature alt-Americana sound than the hazy hypnagogia of Euphoria Again’s early material, while the lyrics equally betray the record’s themes of personal development. - Flood Magazine

a spacious desert folk ramble, dotted with windswept acoustic chords, swelling strings, and winding slide guitar - Under The Radar

This man’s voice also sits in the cut perfectly - Clash Magazine

Infused with the Southern nostalgia of Townes Van Zandt, “Angel Band” radiates a wispy stupor. - WXPN

Having long shed the edgy adolescent angst which defined Klein’s fan favorite Mickey Shoots Up (2014), Waiting on Time to Fly finds Klein seeking redemption, looking to love as a path to healing the demons he wishes to leave behind. Working heavily with Knifeplay bandmates Johanna Baumann and Max Black, Klein crafts thoughtful and traditional modern Americana style arrangements as uplifting vessels for this soul searching storytelling.

Klein also uses time and the sky throughout the record, exploring both life’s fleeting and infinite qualities. In “Sky Remembers”, he reflects on a higher truth, singing: “The Sky remembers more than you might think” before bringing the listener back down to a close intimidate moment as the instrumental arrangement expands behind “you and me tonight / Your eyes like floodlights / on the edge of the night.” In “One More Time” he grapples with a dysfunctional dishonest relationship, but romantically clings to love for grounding: “You’re my morning / And I’ll be your night.”

Then on “White Light and Wind” Klein looks truly and solitarily inward, for maybe the first time on in this offering, shedding light on a possible source of the desperation that permeates the record: “If I had the strength…I’d do everything that I wish and more yet…Some of us just got weights and heavy things.” Finally, for the albums triumphant closer “Little Black Glass”, Klein uses overlapping vocals to weave in the records many hooks, symbolizing the interconnectedness of our life experience as a reminder that we bring who are everywhere, for better or for worse. Singing “a little black glass I take to keep myself free…Got a tap on the shoulder / telling me to rewind” Waiting on Time to Fly shows Klein fighting demons of the past for a better future in healing and love. We explore all of those complications together and receive no closure in “Little Black Glass.” But this lack of closure is in keeping with Klein’s authenticity, as real life often allows for so little. He offers generously to share his soul with us, and in that sharing we may find some healing of our own.
